EastSide Progressive Barrel Racing Association
How It Works?
Membership
No membership reguired to compete in a Progressive Class or the 4-D to win money.
Must be a member to receive points toward year-end awards.
Time-Only (practice) runs are available to members and non members.
$8.00 arena fee for members. $13.00 arena fee for non- members.
We rent the facilities, so an arena fee is required by all riders.
Your 1st Time
At your first jackpot you need to sign up for a qualifying run and include the name of your horse. The Qualifiers run only once before the classes start. We take your time from the qualifying run and place the rider/horse combination in a class according to where you fit in the class descriptions. If you receive a No Time (i.e. broken pattern), you need to qualify again at the next event. Your time for determining your class placing will not include penalties (5 seconds for fallen barrels & poles and 10 seconds for horse touching the goat rope). For new horses or riders it's better to start slower, to gain consistency. Once placed in a class (depending where your time falls), you could win money and/or extra points for this qualifying run. At the next event (next month) you sign up in this class. You continue to sign up in this class until you progress.
Progressing
You compete in the same class until you progress. It takes two progressive runs (a time that is faster than your class) to move up. If you run fast enough, classes can be skipped. To be fair, we average your two progressive times and place you in the class where the average time fits. We do not allow progressions after September. If you progress in October or November, you will not start in your new class until January of the following year. Class placings are carried over from year to year. You only need to re-qualify if riding a new horse. Progressive times are times minus penalties. This means if you are in place in D class when qualifing then run a 17:00 in barrels the next month and you hit 2 barrels, you have a progressive time of 17:00.
Payout
Payout is calculated by percentage and based on the number of riders in your class. If enough riders compete in your class, we now pay up to five places.
Points
Points go with the rider/horse combination and are carried up with you as you progress. You must qualify and the points are kept separate for each horse you ride. As long as you receive a time and do not break the pattern, at a minimum, you will receive a participation point each time you run.

Year-end Awards
You must participate 6 times in the same event on the same horse to qualify for year-end awards. You must also work your events at one show to qualify for year-end awards. Prizes are awarded to the top 8 placings in each class. In 20010, we are also awarding a saddle to the overall high point horse/rider.

Additional Information
Our fees are inexpensive, so you won’t get rich in this association with our payouts. However, we do give nice awards at the end of the year. Our goal is to provide an affordable association for families and individuals to compete, win great prizes, and prepare for tougher competitions at the junior, high school, & even professional levels. We find extreme joy in seeing our members succeed in other rodeo endeavors. For general ESPBRA questions, please contact Laura Miller at (480) 560-1494 or via the Contact Us link.
